Charge My Tech

Stop guessing which charger your device actually needs

A work in progress that cuts through USB-C's labyrinth of proprietary protocols — USB PD, PPS, AVS, and more — so you pick a device, get a ranked shortlist of chargers matched on what actually matters, and never have to read a spec sheet again.

Overview

The problem it solves

Charger specs are opaque

Manufacturers list total wattage but rarely break down what each port actually delivers, or which protocols are supported. A 100W charger might only deliver 10W to your phone if the protocols don't match. Most people don't find out until they're staring at a slow-charging notification.

Protocols are a nightmare

USB PD, PPS, Quick Charge, SuperVOOC — they don't all play nicely together. Different voltage windows, different current limits, different handshake sequences. Matching a device to a charger requires reading documentation that most people don't know exists, if it exists at all.

No affiliate bias

Charge My Tech ranks chargers by real protocol compatibility and match quality against your device. Results are scored on power delivery confidence, not commission. The goal is a correct answer, not a sale.

The matching algorithm

How it works

From device to charger in three steps

Pick a device from a growing list of verified phones, laptops, tablets, and handhelds. Each entry has its required protocols, voltage windows, and current limits documented and kept up to date, so the comparison is built on real requirements rather than marketing copy.

The matching algorithm then scores every charger in the database against the device's requirements, weighting protocol support, voltage compatibility, and current delivery. Results are ranked by match quality and confidence in the underlying data, not by sponsorship.

Instead of a flat yes/no list, every match gets a grade that signals how well it actually works. A charger that hits every protocol correctly scores differently to one that falls back to a lower-spec mode, so the top of the list is the shortlist you can actually trust with your device.

Widgets and API access

Embeddable widgets, partner API, and what's W.I.P.

Chargers and devices can be embedded as interactive widgets on other sites — reviews, retailer pages, or editorial pieces — pulling live data from the same matching engine without anyone having to rebuild the protocol logic on their end.

An API tier is available for partners who want programmatic access to the matching engine — device data, charger lookups, and graded match results returned in a structured format that drops straight into a comparison page, a buyer's guide, or an internal tool.

The project is actively in development. The core matching logic and verified device database are working today; the embeddable widget and partner API tiers are being built out next. The matching algorithm and site were built with agent-assisted development. The protocol specifications and matching logic remain human-verified.
